2014 COVINGTON 5 K RUN Sponsorship Letter

We would like to extend a special invitation to you to become a sponsor for the FIFTH Annual Covington 5K Run/ Walk that will take place this year on Saturday, June 7, 2014.  With the support of more than 30 sponsors and over 300 participants in last year’s event, we were able to net $4,700, which we deposited into the Covington Circle Trail and Covington Buddy Bag Program at the Western Indiana Community Foundation.

We are very excited about this 5th Annual Covington 5K Run/ Walk because of the continued feedback from previous years’ participants. We are especially excited because the net proceeds for this year’s event will contributed equally to the Joshua E. Witsman Scholarship Fund and the Covington Circle Trail fund, component funds of the Western Indiana Community Foundation.   We continue to strive to make enhancements in the event based on these greatly appreciated comments.

Our mission remains “helping to promote a healthy community” while advancing awareness of the Covington Circle Trail which has been, and continues to be, a valuable asset to Covington and surrounding communities.  We feel it is our responsibility to ensure that the trail remains a safe and environmentally friendly area that encourages achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle while enjoying all the benefits of the great outdoors.  Josh Witsman was a resident of Covington who bravely served our country in the US Marine Corps and made the ultimate sacrifice in battle in 2012.  The scholarship fund founded in his name is a way of keeping Josh’s memory alive and remind all of us that something good can result from tragedy.  We are passionate about our efforts in helping meet the continuous needs of our community.

We are continuously soliciting additional sponsors who value the importance of having this safe and environmentally friendly area for our community.  Sponsorships are needed to help cover the expenses associated with organizing and promoting this event including printing, postage, registration packets, medals, and advertisements. Our goal this year is to be able to raise enough sponsorship monies to at least offset all expenses and be able to deposit 30% of the sponsorship monies along with 100% of the participant entry fees to the funds.  Race Time will do official timing of the race again this year, which we hope will increase our participant numbers to over 300 for the third year in a row.

We are offering three tiers of sponsorship again this year:

Gold Medal $200        Silver Medal $100     Bronze Medal $50

If you feel that you cannot commit to one of these amounts, any sponsorship will be greatly appreciated.  All Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medal sponsors will be advertised on the back of the participant T-shirts, on our website www.covington5k.com, in advertisements before the event, and in announcements during the event.  If you choose to become a sponsor, please complete and return this form with a check made payable to “Covington 5K” and mail to Beth Mason, 6790 Redbud Drive, Covington, IN  47932.  In order to allow time for printing of the t-shirts, we would appreciate your response by May 10th.  Written acknowledgement will be provided to all sponsors.
